Our story

It started with a locked door

Emergency Locksmith Huntsville was founded in 2015 by Jack Turner, a lifelong Huntsville resident, after an experience most people in this city have had at least once — locked out of his own home, and unable to find anyone reliable to call.

What he found instead was the thing the locksmith trade is known for: a low number quoted on the phone, a technician who arrived and declared the lock impossible to pick, a drill, and an invoice several times the original estimate. He started this company to be the opposite of that call.

From a one-man operation it has grown into a team of licensed locksmiths covering Madison, Limestone and Morgan County. The core has not changed: a person answers the phone, the price goes out before the truck does, and we open your lock without destroying it wherever the hardware allows.

What we actually believe

Repair before replacement. A stiff deadbolt is usually a door that has moved with the seasons, not a lock that has failed. A mortise lock in a historic Huntsville home is a serviceable machine, not scrap. We open things up and find out what is wrong before we quote hardware.

Rekey before replace. When a key goes missing, the intuitive answer is new locks. The correct answer is nearly always a rekey — same hardware, new pins, old key dead, a fraction of the cost. We say so even though replacement pays better.

The price on the phone is the price. Including the after-hours rate. If a technician finds something genuinely unexpected, the work stops and you get re-quoted rather than surprised at the end.

Non-destructive entry is the default. Picking, bypass and decoding before drilling, always. When a lock genuinely cannot be picked we tell you first and quote the replacement before touching a drill.

Where we work

Our trucks stage in Huntsville, which is what makes an average around 30 minutes realistic inside the city limits rather than aspirational. From there we run north to the Tennessee line, west into Limestone County, and south across the river into Morgan County — with honest drive times for every one of those runs. See the full list on our service areas page.

Community

We are a local business in the ordinary sense of the phrase. Our team lives here, our children go to school here, and we sponsor and volunteer where we can. Huntsville has been good to this company since 2015, and we try to be worth it.

Checking any locksmith

Including us. Before anyone comes out, ask three questions — a legitimate operator answers all of them without hesitating:

  • What is the company's legal name and license?
  • What is the total price for this job, at this hour?
  • Will the technician have identification?

If a company will not give a name, will not give a total, or the number changes when the tech arrives — that is the moment to stop.

Ask us all three
