South of the river
Morgan County is our longest regular run, and it is worth being straight about that: everything here involves crossing the Tennessee River, and the bridge you take changes the drive. We route via I-565 to I-65 for Decatur and Priceville, or the Highway 31 causeway when traffic makes that faster. Central Decatur generally lands in the 40–50 minute band, Hartselle and Priceville similar.
Dispatch quotes you the real number for your address. We would rather tell you 50 minutes and arrive in 45 than promise 25 and leave you standing in a car park recalculating.
What Morgan County calls us about
Commercial and industrial hardware in Decatur. The plants, warehouses and riverfront businesses along the Decatur corridor run hardware that gets cycled hundreds of times a day — exit devices, heavy-duty mortise locks, industrial closers. That volume means wear, and wear means our commercial work here skews toward repair and maintenance rather than lockouts.
Historic downtown doors. Hartselle’s downtown blocks and Decatur’s Old Decatur and Albany historic districts have some of the best-preserved original door hardware in North Alabama. Mortise bodies, rim locks, original escutcheons. When these fail, replacement is usually the wrong answer — the hardware is not reproducible and a well-made mortise lock will outlast anything sold today if someone is willing to service it.
New-build rekeys along I-65. Priceville and the surrounding exits have grown fast. Every closing is a rekey we would recommend on week one.
Riverfront and recreational lockouts. Point Mallard, the boat ramps and the parks generate a steady stream of car lockouts, especially in summer. Keys locked in a truck at a boat launch is one of the most reliably seasonal calls we get.
